Herbal vs. Pharmaceutical: It’s Not Either/Or

There’s a place for both systems of medicine. Pharmaceuticals can be life-saving in acute or emergency situations. Herbal medicine shines in chronic, complex, and constitutional conditions—where suppression hasn’t worked, or side effects have become a burden.

In my clinic, I often work with people who:

  • Have been told their symptoms are “in their head”

  • Are managing chronic fatigue, gut issues, hormone imbalances or skin flare-ups

  • Want to come off long-term medications gently and safely

  • Are looking for a natural approach that sees and supports the whole of them

🌿 The Herbalist’s Role

As a medical herbalist, I don’t just match herbs to symptoms. I assess your constitution, emotional terrain, digestion, elimination, and energetic patterns—using tools like iridology, tongue diagnosis, and deep listening.

From there, I create a bespoke herbal formula to support your healing—layer by layer, with plant allies that work in partnership with your body, not against it.

If you’re curious about whether herbal medicine could be a safe, effective alternative—or complement—to your current medications, let’s talk.

Sarah Turton

I’m Sarah, a medicinal herbalist and founder of Oxford Herbal. I work with people who want to understand the deeper story behind their symptoms — not just to mask them, but to heal from the root.

Using traditional herbal medicine, iridology, and a deep respect for nature’s rhythms, I create personalised plans to support the whole person — body, mind and spirit. My practice is rooted in compassion, connection, and the belief that real wellness comes from working with the body, not against it.
